The third meeting of the reading group on Adrian W. Moore’s The Evolution of Modern Metaphysics (CUP 2012) will take place on Friday, the 31st of August, from 1 to 2.30pm, in room CM1.24 (in the Claus Moser Research Centre).
We will discuss chapter 2 of the book, a chapter on Spinoza. The meeting will begin with an introductory presentation of the chapter, which I will give.

The second meeting of the reading group on A. W. Moore’s The Evolution of Modern Metaphysics took place yesterday (Monday, 20 August), approximately from 1 to 2.30 pm, in CM1.24 (Claus Moser Research Centre, Keele University).
As promised, I recorded the discussion and I post it here (Part 1 and Part 2). In addition to me, participants included Peter Fletcher, Victoria Door, Stephen Leach, Christopher Zebrowski, Philippe Blenkiron, Arran Goodfellow, Adnan Mhidin and Rosana Mhidin.
The meeting began with a presentation of Chapter 1 (Descartes: Metaphysics in the Service of Science) by Peter Fletcher. Discussion continued until shortly after 2.30.
For the next meeting, we will focus on Chapter 2, Spinoza: Metaphysics in the Service of Ethics. The day, time and place for the next meeting, as well as the name of the participant who will do the introductory presentation, will be posted here before long.

The first meeting of the reading group on A. W. Moore’s The Evolution of Modern Metaphysics: Making Sense of Things took place on Thursday (2 August), approximately from 12 to 1.30, in CM1.24 (Claus Moser Research Centre, Keele University).
I recorded the discussion and I post it here (Part 1 and Part 2). In addition to me, participants included Peter Fletcher, Stephen Leach, Geraldine Coggins, Christopher Zebrowski, Philippe Blenkiron, Arran Goodfellow and Adnan Mhidin. From time to time, expressing amazement, one can also hear Geraldine Coggins’s 4-month old daughter.

We started with the Preface and the Introduction, which I presented at the beginning of the meeting. We continued with discussion until the end of the session.
For the next meeting, we will focus on Chapter 1, Descartes: Metaphysics in the Service of Science. The chapter will be introduced by Peter Fletcher.
